Sydney's Research Bazaar is a 3-day festival where researchers come together to learn about next generation digital research tools and open scholarship. In the spirit of a marketplace or bazaar, ResBaz is an event where researchers from many different disciplines can learn, share knowledge and skills, and have fun.
ResBaz Sydney 2021 is completely online and has five concurrent streams:
- Programming 1 (mostly python)
- Programming 2 (mostly R)
- Compute
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Survey/Data Collection
Each stream features workshops, talks and demonstrations. Every day at 3-4pm we host a virtual Hacky Hour where participants can hang out and meet other ResBazzers, chat about favourite tools, follow up with an interesting speaker, and ask the friendly support folk to troubleshoot your code.
Who can attend?
ResBaz Sydney welcomes researchers at all levels from all disciplines. PhD and research Masters students are especially encouraged to register. Research technologists and others who support researchers to do their job are also welcome!
General tickets are open to anyone (ie, NSW and beyond). Workshop tickets will prioritise universities from the organising committee and NSW-based institutions.
What do I need to do?
- General ticket registration
- Sign up for individual workshops
- Make a digital tools poster
The ResBaz General Ticket gives access to the program of talks, demonstrations across all streams, and the daily Hacky Hour. Workshop registration is separate and sign up will open on Monday 18 October.
Since ResBaz is utterly virtual, we want to make it easier to share skills and experience at ResBaz. In the lead up to ResBaz we’ll send you a template so you can create a digital poster about yourself: the tool stack you use, and what you’re keen to learn. These posters will display in the Hacky Hour space each day. We find this is a great way to navigate a virtual room of friendly strangers, and help you find your people!
